Ensemble Performance Attire
Students in Concert Band, Concert Choir, and Symphony Orchestra (including the sub-groups contained within those groups) are required to wear a concert uniform to all performances unless otherwise specified. Concert attire for all major ensembles is obtained through the school at a small expense to parents.
Option 1
Black dress pants, white tuxedo shirt, black vest, and burgundy long tie.
Students are expected to provide their own black dress shoes, black socks, and a black belt.
Option 2
Ankle-length black dress.
Students are expected to provide their own black dress shoes. Flats are strongly recommended.
Option 3
What is the Concert Dress Code?
Modifications to either of the above options are easily accommodated. Because needs will differ from student to student, please contact a music teacher to discuss appropriate modifications that suit your needs.
Concert dress consists of multiple options. Each option is available to every student.

Measuring and Fitting

All students must be measured before orders are placed in the fall. Measurements and fittings are mandatory for all 9th grade students, as well as any students in grades 10-12 who are new to Concert Band, Concert Choir, or Symphony Orchestra. The concert dress fitting for this year will take place on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm. (It takes about 5 minutes per student and students may leave once they're finished.) Delivery of items is estimated at 4-5 weeks from the time the order is placed.

Cost and Payment

Buybacks, Resale, & Donations

The cost per student for the LMHS-provided portion of the concert attire is $65, due by Friday, October 12, 2018. Checks are the preferred method of payment. Please make checks out to "Lower Merion High School" and include the student's name in the memo field.

Once you have paid for the concert attire it belongs to you. You may resell, donate, or keep it (see right). If a student grows out of their concert attire, new concert attire must be purchased, but we encourage the use of our resale market (see right) to find reduced-price items in the correct size and resell items that no longer fit to others who may need them.
All pants and dresses are delivered unhemmed. You can have them hemmed on your own (most dry cleaners offer this service at very cheap rates). There are also many talented students and parents who will hem pants and dresses. Some will even do it for free! Just ask around.
LMSD policy prohibits us from buying back concert attire for cash. If you wish to donate your concert attire, however, we can accept it.

We strongly encourage you to sell concert attire to incoming freshmen or anybody else who needs new concert dress. To facilitate connecting people who are looking for concert dress with those who are interested in selling it we have created a Concert Dress Trading group on Facebook for parents to join.
